For nearly 300 hundred years Bach’s Partita No. 2 has captured the imaginations of countless music lovers, especially the Chaconne, which seems to have no less than mystical hold on performers as well as listeners. Is it because of its technical originality and complexity, demanding just about the impossible from the instrument and the player? Or is it because of its breath-taking profundity, condensing the whole universe within one man, one violin, and one bow? Probably both, and with Richard Tognetti performing we can surely look forward to an intense and deeply moving journey into the depths of the human soul transcending space and time.
